Care is infrastructure.
Design it like it matters.
The Care by Design Sprint is a short, focused programme for senior leaders who want to build technology that keeps people safe and earns trust. Led by Seyi Akiwowo.
Who is Seyi Akiwowo?
Seyi Akiwowo is a former politician, author, and award-winning founder of Glitch, the UK NGO that influenced the Online Safety Act and led BT Sport and EE’s Draw the Line campaign. She has worked with policymakers, platforms, and brands to combine lived experience of online harm with systems-level safety design. In this 2-week, 3–4 session sprint, she works directly with senior leaders to identify where responsibility is being displaced, and how to redesign for accountability before harm escalates.
What is Care by Design?
Care by design is a way of thinking about responsibility and accountability before harm occurs. It starts from a simple premise: when harm is predictable, choosing to let it operate at scale is a design choice. Care by design asks leaders to look upstream at incentives, metrics, governance, and product decisions, and to take responsibility for harm, rather than placing the burden onto users. Seyi Akiwowo articulates the principles behind care by design in conversation on the Cheer Up Luv podcast, exploring how these ideas show up in platform design, safety, and public life. Listen here.
About The Sprint
The Care by Design Sprint is a short, senior-level intervention that helps leadership teams understand how accountability and responsibility is currently designed across their platform, AI, or governance systems. It is designed for organisations facing complex safety, trust, or accountability challenges who need clear direction. Over 2 weeks, across 3–4 focused sessions, Seyi works directly with senior leaders to:
identify where harm is predictable,
map how responsibility is currently distributed, and
surface design and governance decisions that are creating avoidable risk.
Sessions are structured and time-bound. Synthesis and analysis are handled by Seyi and her team.
This isn’t just training on rules and regulation. It’s a leadership practice for the moments when compliance, risk, and responsibility sit across multiple teams and don’t fully answer the question on their own.

Organisations where risk, responsibility, and accountability are currently unclear or contested
Not Ready For a Sprint?
If the ideas behind Care by Design resonate, but a Sprint isn’t the right next step, I’m also developing a smaller, relational space to explore this work together. The Care by Design Salon is a structured yet spacious environment for leaders who want to sit with questions of care, responsibility, and platform design. It’s an early-stage offering, shared at a founding member rate, where participants are invited into a process of collective inquiry as the Salon takes shape.
